In a move that is sure to etch smiles on passengers filtering through the airport, the Hershey Company has officially launched the first Hershey’s flotilla buggy in the world at KLIA. The mobile retail concept is a tri-partite collaboration that is meant to revolutionise experiential retail for travellers and move away from conventional method of doing business in travel retail.
Touted as the world’s first truly mobile promotion by a confectionery brand, the Hershey’s flotilla buggy was converted from a regular buggy to its present eye-catching appearance. It is designed as a unique attraction that draws the attention of passers-by, while being a convenient last-minute stop for passengers who are about to board.
With a style that is noticeably inspired by American automobile theme of ‘sunny California-dreaming convertible Cadillac’, the buggy features working headlights and gives out an engine rumble. It is also plastered with messages and renderings of iconic Malaysian landmarks to instil a sense of place. Its striking presence is also sure to grace many a photo.
Nazli Aziz, Malaysia Airports Senior GM for Commercial Services, emphasised on the fact that travellers are after more interesting experiences when they travel. “Malaysia Airports is constantly looking into new ways to curate a convenient, unique and memorable shopping experience for customers. The launch of the Hershey’s flotilla buggy is the culmination of a successful partnership between Malaysia Airports, a world-class confectionery brand and an enterprising retailer – the first of its kind in the history of travel retail in Malaysia.”
