Tropicana has once again reunited families in Malaysia for Hari Raya Aidilfitri thanks to the Eratkan Jalinan campaign’s fifth iteration. 1,000 travellers boarded KTM trains bound for Tumpat, Padang Besar, Ipoh and Johor Bahru in order to reconnect with family and friends for the festive period marking the end of Ramadhan.
The Tropicana team hosted a series of fun and entertaining activities in the trains and wished the travellers a safe journey for the balik kampung train rides. To get travellers into the mood, the Tropicana team alongside melodious buskers sang Hari Raya songs, organised karaoke sessions and performed magic shows to lift their spirits.
“The Eratkan Jalinan dengan Tropicana campaign has continued successfully because there are many citizens who live away from their families. While the Internet enables them to stay in touch, they rarely get the chance to meet their family in-person, which makes a big difference. We want to continue encouraging our consumers to unite and strengthen their relationships with their loved ones and the 1,000 train rides, along with new route to the East Coast gives them the chance to head home and spend time with their loved ones during this festive period” said Hemalatha Ragavan, Etika Sdn Bhd Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.
The Eratkan Jalinan dengan Tropicana campaign has received a fantastic response and sent a total over 2,000 people home over the last four years. As there is usually a large exodus of on-road travellers out of Kuala Lumpur during the Hari Raya season, it can become extremely challenging for them to find their way home.
“Highway traffic during this season can last several hours, which is why we have chosen to provide train tickets as it means that our consumers will likely reach their home towns at a set time. We hope that our consumers are able to spend quality time and share many memorable moments together with their loved ones come this Hari Raya,” added Hemalatha.
To further touch on the importance of connecting family ties, the Tropicana team also hosted a story-sharing session during the train ride. Here, different passengers were invited to share their Hari Raya experience, how they plan to celebrate, the fun things they would do with their family and the unforgettable moments with their loved ones they would always cherish.
“This is a very happy moment for me. Not only am I able to meet with my family but I am also able to share this journey with so many others at this event. I’ve made a few friends just on this train ride! The vibrant and excited atmosphere definitely helped to instill the Raya mood in me and I cannot wait to share my happiness with my friends and family,” said Raihanah Roslan, a student from University Sains Islam Malaysia who has headed home to Parit Buntar, Perak to spend time with her family.
In addition to providing gleeful train rides, the brand along with Era FM and offered five air tickets to Malaysians with their loved ones abroad. Moreover, Tropicana also tied up with GrabHitch and provided free ‘hitch-rides’ for those with a common balik kampung purpose.
