The vast variety of shops that populate Kuala Lumpur and the greater Klang Valley is staggering, and enough to keep any shopaholic busy for quite some time. With a total floor area of over 22 million sq.ft. on this list, there is no doubt Malaysia is attracting ever more traveller shoppers to it shores.

With an incredible five million square feet of retail space, 1Utama is the undisputed king of Malaysia’s malls and housed among its many wonders (aside from the vast tenant list) is Asia’s largest indoor rock climbing gym and two cinema complexes. If you want to stretch your vocal cords, you can take your pick from a number of karaoke centres, and if gaming is your thing, the arcade zone is a must.

One of the shining symbols of the sprawling Sunway integrated township, the Egyptian-themed Sunway Pyramid has become an icon in the country’s retail scene. It boasts over 800 shops and boutique stores offering everything from premium brands to independent labels. It also lays claim to Malaysia’s first ever ice-skating rink and is right next to the Sunway Lagoon theme park. You haven’t really been in Sunway if you haven’t been to the Pyramid.

In the heart of KL lies Berjaya Times Square, a massive building that sits at number 18 on the list of world’s largest malls. Some of the impressive statistics include over 900 retail outlets, nine screens of big-screen magic, an archery range, the Escape Room for puzzle lovers, and a variety of immersive shopping zones including Tiny Taipei and Central Park. Alternatively, if you’re looking for some adrenaline-packed action, head to levels five through eight where the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park is located.

Located in Klang, Selangor, this mall is the largest AEON in the country (and third largest in Asia) and is also called popularly known as JUSCO Bukit Tinggi. The anchor tenant is obviously the expansive AEON department store, but spread across its 2,100,000 square feet you’ll also find all manner of cafes, restaurants, speciality stores, food courts, cinema, sports complexes, and supermarkets. Home to the largest IKEA outlet in Malaysia, MyTown Shopping Centre occupies an important spot in the township of Cheras. Located within IOI Resort City, IOI City Mall may have only opened its doors in 2015, but it has already gained a reputation as one of the top malls in the Malaysia.
