While the Theatre of Cuisines is home to this year’s Festival Restaurants, plenty more delectable gastronomy and premium products can be found at the Epicure International Gourmet Village and LuxuryPlus Showcase.
Visitors can browse and shop at a range of gourmet food and beverage vendors here, offering mouth-watering delicacies from around the world. On top of that, cooking demos by some of the most renowned culinary organisations in Malaysia will be taking place so if you’re looking for inspiration in the kitchen, make sure to check them out.
Craving For Sweets?
Chocolate lovers are in for a treat this year as the Epicure International Gourmet Village welcomes Love 18˚ Artisan Chocolatier, purveyors of decadent truffles, tarts, bonbons and pralines. Pair that with a steaming cup of tea, coffee or herbal infusion from Verve Stuff and you’ve got a winning combination.
Meanwhile, Sangkaya is the name behind some of the finest coconut ice cream in Malaysia. Go for the signature four scoops in a coconut halfshell and top it off with roasted peanuts, sweet corn, Nestum cereal or kidney beans.
For something truly local, head over to Malaysia’s royal fruit specialist, D’King where you’ll find classic desserts the durian way, like egg pudding, crème brûlée, mille crepe, shakes, popsicles and the popular durian cendol. Those that like a bit of crunch can even opt for waffles, tarts, crème puffs and macaroons!
Chefs In Action
Setting up shop in the Gourmet Village is Berjaya University College, an institution that has become one of the nation’s foremost learning centres with programmes in hospitality, tourism, culinary arts and business management.
Budding chefs from the College will be taking visitors through recipes and cooking up a variety of goodies to taste over the weekend. If you’re thinking about a career as a chef, you’ll also be able to ask them and the senior chefs about what to expect.
Also returning is Sunway Le Cordon Bleu which recently won its second Award of Excellence for Hospitality Institution of the Year (Regional) at the coveted World Gourmet Summit. Le Cordon Bleu has maintained a tradition of excellence for over 120 years, and the image of the blue ribbon has always been connected to the very highest qualification in the fine art of cooking.
Chef instructors from Le Cordon Bleu will be running cooking demonstrations which pull large crowds each year. There’s no better place to pick up some tips and tricks!
Returning to the grounds of the LuxuryPlus Showcase is the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) where visitors can find out everything they need to about the ‘Vegas Of China’. A vibrant fusion of East and West, Macao is both known for its old-world charm with colonial ruins and ancient temples, as well as the glitz and glam of its prestigious casinos.
This year is the Year of Gastronomy in Macao, and it heralds newly devised culinary routes for visitors to embark on, fresh gastronomic events to discover and themed activities to engage in. Find out more about this initiative when visiting MGTO at Taste MIGF.
If you’re in the market for a new property, make your way to the Sunsuria Berhad pop-up where a pair of new developments in the form of Monet Lily and Monet Garden will be on display. Both located within Sunsuria City, the former includes 211 units of two-storey terrace homes ideal for new beginnings, a growing family and where precious memories are born.
Equally as alluring is Monet Garden, a place inspired by the striking impressionism of Claude Monet who created monumental depictions of nature’s beauty. Inspired by his creativity, the Garden contains 246 units of terrace homes and townhouses that re-imagine the art of living.
