They say a picture is worth a thousand words and a moment captured can tell a whole story. Hoping to communicate plenty of meaningful tales to the public, Travel Photographer Asia is a festival and contest that celebrates the very best of travel photography.
Held at the White Box of Publika, the exhibition offers fascinating glimpses into life in and around Asia, immortalising scenes of panoramic landscapes, rituals, celebrations and the details of daily life.
Launched in 2015, the competition was open to professional and amateur photographers all over the world, with the condition that the submitted photos be taken in Asia or Australia.

With a record-breaking 3445 entries submitted this year, the panel of distinguished judges – comprising of Dr. Shahidul Alam, Tewfic El-Sawy, Huang Wen, Vignes Balasingam, Gwen Lee, Che’ Ahmad Azhar, Drew Hopper, Nadia J. Mahfix and KG Krishnan – had a hard time selecting the final 50 photos to be displayed in a special showcase at Publika’s White Box until 29 May.
Taking away first prize was Alex Varani from Italy whose breath-taking picture beautifully captured the whalesharks of Cenderawasih bay in Indonesia on a stormy day.

Besides viewing the gorgeous exhibition, photography enthusiasts can take part in special photo talks and photography workshops over the weekend, where renowned photographers will share their experiences and offer tips.
