As with 2019, its headliner is the China GT race – the only one that’s held outside China. On the starting grid are a number of international teams whose drivers have their eyes set firmly on the podium. Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, McLaren, Porsche and other marques with similar motorsport pedigree are the weapons of choice here.

Ordinarily consisting of cars built for one-make series competitions, the GTC class takes heed of the factory cup car technical specification pertaining to the model year of the car concerned, with a BOP established by China GT. Under licence and regulated by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) GT4 BOP, with cars that won’t look out of place at a track day, the GT4 class is an assorted one that draws drivers and teams of varying race experience, skill and budget.

Further racing thrills come with a new inclusion this year, the Golden Sprint Challenge (GSC), which is intended to spread the racing fever in the region. It will be open to all three GT classes, with two single-driver night races as its highlight. Meanwhile, the Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF), which was present at last year’s Festival, will stage the first round of the MSF Super Turismo of the season involving more than 200 cars under 14 categories.

The Celeb Bazaar is another returning Festival fixture, featuring famous local celebrity-entrepreneurs who will arrive with their signature products in tow. Visitors have even more to look forward to, including a concert of home-grown talents, a substantial automotive exhibition, a car club gathering boasting an astonishing 700 vehicles, a mini theme park for the family, and a sizeable selection of food trucks!
