In the footsteps of the government’s decision to allow the resumption of domestic tourism from 10 June 2020, and theme parks and water parks from 1 July 2020, Tourism Selangor has announced that the rainforest attractions of Taman Eko Rimba Kanching and Chongkak Park & Resort are now back in operation.
These destinations, perfect for some jungle trekking and a refreshing dip in river water, will receive visitors from today, 6 July 2020!
With that in mind, there will be certain restrictions to what activities are allowed, with SOPs introduced to ensure that visits to these spots are safe.
Notably, the operation hours of these places are from 8am to 4.30pm, with the public not permitted to enter the area outside these hours. In addition, no camping is allowed until further notice, and the number of visitors at a time must not exceed 300 people. Further SOPs and guidleines from the National Security Council can be found below:
-Undergo compulsory temperature scanning
-Sign in with the Selangkah app
-Ensure social distancing of one metre
-It is recommended to wear a face mask
-Do not gather in crowds of more than 10 people on site
-Ensure that only five people are at resting huts and gazebos at a time
-The implementation of activities should also take into account the appropriateness of handling activities and movement, with a minimum space of two square metres per person
Located to the north of the capital near Rawang, Taman Eko Rimba Kanching is the home of the spectacular Kanching Falls – a seven-tier cascade that is over 200m tall! A bit of hiking through the rainforest is required to enjoy the full majesty of the falls, but they are definitely worth the slog.
A resort that rubs shoulders with lush jungles and orchards and features the famous Sungai Congkak, Chongkak Park & Resort is not a small fry in the realm of Selangor ecotourism. It lies in the district of Hulu Langat to the northeast of Kuala Lumpur, and is a consummate place to get close to nature!
