You won’t have to be in London to catch a world-famous musical as the British Theatre Playhouse Malaysia is bringing together leading stars from the West End who will be performing live at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa this month!
Making its way to KL after touring across Europe and the UK in 2011, Stars of the West End Sing the Rock Musicals pays tribute to iconic stage productions with a medley of tracks from legendary artistes and highly acclaimed West End and Broadway musicals. These include Thriller Live (Michael Jackson), Tina Turner (Tina Turner), The Bodyguard (Whitney Houston), Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and the famous We Will Rock You (Queen).

Taking centre stage is a dream team made up of four internationally-renowned theatre personalities who each have played lead roles in some of the biggest theatre productions.
“We are introducing songs from the award-winning film, Bohemian Rhapsody with Ricardo Afonso singing as Freddie Mercury – Ricardo was the lead (Galileo) in We Will Rock You, a rock musical based on the songs of British rock band Queen and directed by Ben Elton in the West End”, said British Theatre Playhouse Founder and Chairman Cecilia Leong-Faulkner.
Afonso is joined by singer and actress Carole Stennet who has recently returned from The Bodyguard’s China tour which saw her performing as the lead role of Rachel Marron.

Another female powerhouse is Shona Lindsay who was the youngest actress to take up the role of Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera in 1990 and has since played leading ladies in Grease, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Gilmer.

With over 30 years of experience in West End theatre, Mike Sterling is another leading light on the bill, having earned international acclaim as the Phantom and Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera for multiple shows, as well as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables.
