30 August 2019: Aquaria KLCC sees in National Day with an underwater performance
In the spirit of the 62nd Malaysian National Day, Aquaria KLCC presents SEA-MPHONY, a special performance that, true to the one-of-a-kind events usually seen at the venue, is something to behold. The show features their own professional diver playing an underwater gong, as the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra puts down some tunes in the vein of Merdeka.
The gong, a traditional Southeast Asian musical instrument, provides a nice heritage flavour to the patriotic music. Aquawalk Managing Director Dato’ Simon Foong said, “Music has the power to unite, like an orchestra; when people work together they can create something truly remarkable. This year, we are driving this message of patriotism and the importance of unity for a peaceful country. Our visitors of all walks of life can sing and dance while learning about the underwater world of Aquaria KLCC.”
The SEA-MPHONY performances are spread out around National Day and Malaysia Day. They take place at 11am on 30 and 31 August , and at 4pm on 15 and 16 September.
In a related matter, Aquaria has also collaborated with the Ministry of Education, STEM center and EDUWEBTV to put together an aquaponic school competition in conjunction with National Day and its theme of ‘Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih’.
Starting on 13 June this year, 10 Putrajaya schools have begun building their aquaponic systems using recycled materials with budget and space constraints. Lasting for sic months, the competition ends later in November.
