Malaysia’s Queen of Wushu, Diana Bong Siong Lin will be gunning for gold in her last ever SEA Games outing this month from 20-22 August in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The Sarawakian has been a pillar of the national team for 13 years, rising to become team captain and she’ll be looking to claim her fourth gold medal in her sixth SEA Games appearance.
She will be competing in the Nandao (a discipline using a kind of sword) and Nangun (emphasising short and blunt hits, vigorous movements, and extensive hand techniques) events – ones that earned her the first win of her SEA Games career in 2007.
She failed to bag a medal in Singapore two years ago and will be looking to make good on that defeat. Myanmar fighter Myint Aye Thit Sar, who took home the Gold in Singapore, will be one of her main obstacles, as well as the double threat of Indonesians Juwita Niza Wasni and Ivana Ardelia Imanto.
