Pavilion KL’s Centre Court transformations throughout the year are always the talk of the town and it’s no different for this month’s Mid-Autumn Festival. Also known as the Lantern or Mooncake Festival, the mall welcomes shoppers to a Mid-Autumn Symphony where they can also take a Journey Of Taste with mouth-watering delights from the four corners of the world.
A spectacular showcase of over 2,000 colourful hanging lanterns greets visitors as they wander through the front entrance and down the Spanish Steps, embellished with fish and flower decor, and into the Centre Court.
Mooncakes are synonymous with the Festival and this rich pastry is here in abundance at the Mooncake Fair where 20 top hotels and restaurants are present, each with their own versions of the seasonal delicacy. There’s something for everyone here, from evergreen favourites and durian creations to chocolate-filled goodies.
Don’t leave without trying the signature Wife Cake from the iconic Hang Heung Cake Shop, a century-old Chinese bakery from Hong Kong. Its crumbly thin crust and decadent winter melon paste filling coats the palate in lush flavours.
Mooncakes are far from the only attraction here, with a fascinating Lantern Symphony Opening Drum Performance taking place on selected dates including 26 and 27 September at 2pm and 5pm. Grand Imperial will also be leading workshops on mooncake making on 26 and 27 September at 4pm, and Chinese water colour painting from now until 27 Sept at 2pm and 6pm.
A grand Lantern Parade will make its way through the mall on 26 September and you can be part of it by being among the first 200 to register at pavilion-kl.com/viewoffersevents/Redeem-Your-Free-Lantern. Be among the first 1,000 to register and you’ll get a lantern.
There are also plenty of rewards to be had; those who spend a minimum of RM200 at the Mooncake Fair or RM250 in a single receipt at any specialty stores will receive a Lily Fish; and those who spend RM1,500 or more in a single receipt at any specialty stores, will be rewarded with one Festivity Gift comprising a BODUM Travel Mug and mooncakes.
If you’re looking for something heartier than mooncakes to fill your belly, the Journey Of Taste campaign is running in tandem with the Mid-Autumn Symphony and features over 30 sumptuous cuisines available at the mall. Themed Signature by Destination, you’ll find a whole range of Malaysian favourites and international delights to sate your hunger.
There’s only a week left of the campaigns so head to Pavilion KL now to take advantage of them. Head to pavilion-kl.com or follow the mall on Instagram @pavilionkualalumpur for more information.
