Official Medal Partner for Kuala Lumpur 2017, Royal Selangor recently unveiled the KL2017 medals and merchandise at its Visitor Centre. The medal pay homage to the natural resources of the ASEAN region. Composed of tin and kempas wood. Characterised by subtle curved surfaces, rims and edges. The medals are emblematic of athletic achievement, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these specially-designed medals are recognised as accolades that befit the world’s top achievers.
Royal Selangor was commissioned to design the torch and baton for KL2017, maintaining a similar combination of wood and pewter with the “Rising Stripes” as the main motif. Much like the design of the torch and baton for KL2017, the medals also incorporates the Rising Stripes motif.
Royal Selangor has crafted trophies for many sporting events such as the Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix, China GP and Singapore GP; the Shanghai ATP Masters 1000 and the CIMB PGA and Sime Darby LPGA golf tournaments.

Headlining the merchandise is the replica of the KL2017 Baton. The sleek Baton draws directly from the Games’ theme Rising Together, its form a reference to the shards that represent every ASEAN nation and make up the Games’ distinctive wau logo.Complementing the Baton is the replica of the KL2017 Torch which currently on its 3 months Torch Run across Malaysia states and Federal territories. The torch features strikingly raked angles and carries the host city’s name over the profusion of Rising Stripes representational of a confident and modern Malaysia. The integrated triangular cross section, symbolising strength in unity.
Other memorabilia welcoming the visitors to KL2017 include a Rimau figurine, collar pin and commemorative medals.
