With its array of world-class entertainment, dining, recreation, relaxation and hospitality offerings, Resorts World Genting (RWG) has long made its mark as a stellar highland holiday destination just outside of KL. However, with the Malaysian government’s Movement Control Order (MCO) and subsequently the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) triggered by COVID-19, it has been temporarily closed in the interest of public health safety.
After a good couple of months of strict pandemic SOPs and good practices, the resulting largely reduced number of local COVID-19 cases has prompted the government to initiate the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) on 10 June 2020. In the wake of this new order, which sees calculated relaxation of certain MCO conditions (SOPs are still to be observed in public spaces), RWG has decided to reopen its doors from 10am, 19 June 2020! Watch the announcement video below by the resort.
📢📢Can we get your attention, please? The news that you’ve been waiting for is finally here! It is with great excitement to announce that we are ready to welcome you back safely this coming 19 June! Bear in mind that this is not a full-fledged resumption of the entire RWG operation, but a gradual reopening with enhanced safety measures. Selected attractions, hotels, and dining outlets will be opened first, with health and safety protocols enforced throughout the resort. Follow the latest reopening updates as well as safety guidelines on RWG’s StaySafe Promise site.
To aid in contact tracing, RWG has also put in place the government’s MySejahtera check-in system for a smoother visitor detail-recording experience. Visitors to the resort can download the app for Android and Apple, and simply scan QR codes at the various access points across RWG.
What Will Be Opened And RWG Guidelines
See below for the various RWG components to be opened as well as the guidelines to be adhered to by visitors.
The following attraction will operate:
Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park
RWG recommends that you use the hand santiser provided at the counter when you purchase a ticket. When joining a queue for a ride, please follow the floor markers for safe distancing. RWG has increased the sanitisation of their rides with emphasis on frequent contact surfaces, such as the seats, handrails and safety harnesses.
The following casinos will operate:
(Entry will be for Genting Rewards members only. Public entry into the casino will resume as soon as possible.)
Casino guidelines can be found below.
Thermal scanning: All guests will have their temperature checked upon entry.
Safe distancing: The number of guests in the casino will be monitored so it is not overcrowded. Additionally, only limited players are to be expected at each table game. Slot and ETG machines will be operating alternately. RWG asks that you keep the seat next to you empty at all times. If unsure, please use the floor markers as a guide.
Contact tracing: All guests are required to scan the QR code from the MySejahtera app upon entry and exit.
Hand sanitisers: Automated hand sanitisers are available throughout the casino floor. RWG encourages players to sanitise their hands before and after gaming. You are also encouraged to wear masks in public spaces.
Sanitised chips, cash and equipment: RWG has increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of gaming equipment and machines. All banknotes are sterilised and gaming chips are disinfected with advanced antimicrobial coating technology. Kindly exchange your old chips with newly disinfected chips.
e-CASH: Before you game, please load a cash amount into your Genting Rewards card. This amount becomes e-CASH, which you will use for all gaming transactions. Load at the cashier counter, Cash Deposit Machine, or any gaming machines.
Service Ambassadors: Service Ambassadors are present at the casino floor to help you observe safe distancing, perform random temperature scanning, and provide assistance.
View RWG’s Casino Safety Guide video here.
There will be no scheduled shows and concerts available until further notice.
The following hotels will operate:
First World Hotel
Hotel rooms will undergo a strict disinfection regime before they are released for guest use. Key cards are sanitised upon issuance and return. Guest amenities are also placed in sealed bags for additional protection. Amenities which cannot be wiped or sanitised (i.e. stationery) have been removed to avoid cross-contamination. They are, however, available upon request. High-touch areas such as door handles, lift buttons, gym and spa equipment are also sanitized on an hourly basis. Hand sanitisers are widely available throughout the hotels. Guests are also encouraged to wear masks in public.
All dining outlets shall be closed by 10pm. All staff members have been trained to adhere to new operating procedures. This includes increased disinfection of common surface areas such as tables and self-ordering kiosks on an hourly basis. All condiments, sets and cutlery baskets have also been removed as they pose cross-contamination risks. Condiments, however, are available upon request. Pre-wrapped and disposable cutlery sets have been introduced as well.
RWG’s famed shopping mall SkyAvenue will open from 10am to 10pm.
RWG’s cable car system Awana SkyWay will operate from 7am to 12 midnight. Selected parking spaces will be open for public use.
RWG has two medical clinics operating 24/7. Any guests or employees who show flu-like symptoms will be isolated and examined by medical professionals. There are also six ambulances on standby in the event of a medical emergency.
