30 June 2017:Over 100 pieces of floral art will be featured
In honour of 60 years of rewarding diplomatic relations between Japan and Malaysia, premier shopping destination Pavilion KL is holding an exclusive Ikenobo Ikebana Exhibition at Tokyo Street on Level 6 from today until 2 July.
Ikebana is the art of Japanese flower arrangement, which has been around since the seventh century.
As the leading institution in this field, the Ikenobo Society of Floral Art, which is based in Kyoto, will be displaying a total of 100 pieces on Level 6 of the mall, making it one of the biggest Ikenobo Ikebana exhibitions held outside Japan.
“There will be 90 Ikenobo members from Japan, and 53 members from neighbouring countries – including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia – taking part in the exhibition,” said Tourism Malaysia Osaka Director, Solehuddin Ahmad.
Besides enjoying the beauty of the arrangements, visitors can also learn how to make their own Ikebana by taking part in one of three workshops happening all weekend.
Ikenobo is also celebrating 555 years in history this month. The introduction of this crucial aspect of Japanese culture to Malaysia further cements the ties between Japan and Malaysia.
