The wellness festival industry is booming as more and more people look for ways to decompress and unplug from urban stress and find ways to calm the mind. Here in Malaysia, MURFEST has taken up that mantle and this month it returns for a fifth edition.
The Malaysian Urban Retreat Festival is the country’s largest wellness, music and dance festival, spread over a wholesome three-day weekend that’s open to everyone from first time newbies looking to get their feet wet to hard-core fitness freaks and yogis.
Seeking Zen
A packed programme of workshops, masterclasses and talks awaits Murfesters, hosted by experts from around the world. Over 80 sessions will take place on the weekend, split into categories that include yoga, fitness, music, dance, healing, lectures and talks centring on self-improvement and self-realisation.
There will also be a number of free workshops held at the Community Pavilion for which no passes are needed. Fancy learning Indian Garba Folk Dance, Latin Reggaeton or acro-yoga? Well, then don’t miss out on these and many more.
On Saturday night, an immersive Sacred Cacao Ceremony and Ecstatic Dance Flow Party will help cleanse auras, while Sunday morning will see the best Salsation instructors in the country get together for an amazing concert. Finally, the traditional drum circle will cap off the weekend in a unifying burst of energy designed to make everyone dance, move, sing and chant as instructors, presenters and attendees come together.
