If you haven’t heard of Milo, you need to get yourself a cup of this chocolate malt drink to learn why it’s so popular not just in Malaysia and the rest of Southeast Asia, but also in South America, Africa and Australia – where it was invented by Thomas Mayne in 1934.
Marketed under the Nestlé umbrella, the drink found its way to the country in 1950 and has since become a beverage staple known to practically every Malaysian. Made from malt barley, milk and cocoa, a combination that gives it the distinctive and unique choco-malty taste, it is infused with essential vitamins and minerals. It comes in several forms, including powder, mixes, and ready-to-drink in UHT packs, PET bottles and cans.
To mark its seven decades in Malaysia, Milo has set the ball rolling on the ‘Milo 70 Tahun Kebaikan Dalam 70 Hari’ (‘Milo 70 Years of Goodness in 70 Days’) contest. It had commenced on 20 July 2020, running for 70 days until 27 September 2020, and up for grabs during this period are cash prizes and limited-edition Milo merchandise worth over RM550,000!
There are more than 900 prizes on offer, ranging from daily cash prizes worth RM700 awaiting three winners (for 70 days), to weekly cash prizes of RM7,000 for two winners (for 10 weeks). Three very fortunate winners will walk away with the grand cash prize of RM70,000 each, while 700 consolation prize winners will get to take home the limited edition vintage Milo gym bag adorned with the iconic Milo logo from the 1950s.

The ‘Milo 70 Tahun Kebaikan Dalam 70 Hari’ contest is open to all Milo consumers across its diverse product portfolio, who are legal residents of Malaysia with a valid identification document, aged 18 years and above. To enter, consumers need to make a minimum purchase of RM15 worth of any Milo Powder, Mixes, UHT, Cans or PET variant in a single receipt from any participating outlet. They then have to write their name, ID number and email address (if any) on the original receipt and WhatsApp to 017 336 0718.
