Maxis are on cloud nine literally with the introduction of its latest app which runs on the platform of a cloud-based digital bookstore. Less than a month after the mobile network operator released its 20 free native apps including the popular Maxis Movies and Maxis Roam, they have upped the ante and launched Malaysia’s first integrated digital book service available across all major devices, the ebuuk service. Best of all, everything is stored in the cloud and available wherever you are, on whatever device you happen to be using.
Bibliophiles will rejoice at this digital advent as it provides a hassle-free experience of browsing, purchasing and reading their favourite titles on phones, tablets or PCs. Users are able to synch their digital library with as many as six devices, doing away with any confinement issues. For many, operating multiple devices is becoming a status quo and so synching across devicescomes in very handy.
Present to provide a rundown of the service was Maxis’ Vice President and Head of Product, Device, Innovation & Roaming,Mr.T.Kugan and Maxis’ GM and Head of Innovation, PDI Maxis Mr.NavinWathan, who stressed the ease and convenience of the service. The facility also includes a dictionary, tagging and notes function, all features which are highly practical when reading eBooks. Maxis have also partnered up with Cempaka Schools in a bid to extend its services to schools by eventually distributing learning content, reference materials and educational publications available through theMaxis ebuuk service. Currently, only Cempaka Schools are collaborating, however plans to expand and reach more schools are already under way.
Maxis customers can enjoy eBooks in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese ranging from RM8 to RM89, the purchases of which will appear on account bills at the end of the month or deducted from Hotlink pay-as-you-go accounts. Signing up for the first time, you also get a free eBook to familiarise yourself with the service. A vast library of over 300,000 eBooks across 40 categories is presently available, with these numbers expected to increase with time.
If you love your books, then this app is an absolute godsend, as you can carry around as many books as you want, all available at the touch of button. This means that you’ll be able to increase the amount of books you go through and save trees while you’re at it! The app is available from Google Play and Apple’s App Store and you can visit www.ebuuk.com.my for more information and a view at the selection of eBooks available.Just imagine never having to shop for books again at the local bookstore or being stared at while browsing and lugging all those heavy volumes around wherever you go. Now that’s taking a weight off your mind!
