If you’ve been wanting to take you cooking game to the next level but are finding it difficult to do so just by following YouTube videos or recipes from a book, a masterclass with a professional is just what you need. Enter Chef Nathalie Arbefeuille, a name that has become synonymous with deliciously prepared, innovative food in Kuala Lumpur.
Her well-established cooking classes are some of the most popular in town and have drawn budding chefs for years. Chef Nathalie has become adept at combining her native French techniques with local ingredients and styles to produce dishes that play with the imagination and taste buds.
Throughout October and November the chef is offering seven new classes that feature brand new recipes, from themed sessions to a full three-course meal.
In October you can delve into the secret of sauces, often the component that can make or break a dish, in one class, while another uncovers the secrets of a good tart. Elsewhere, she’ll guide you through a unique take on a laksa as well as a pandan and coconut meringue with gula Melaka ice cream. A combination you won’t find elsewhere.
Then, in November you can learn the art of ice cream from the master. The menu will consist of forward-thinking flavours including tomato and watermelon gazpacho and lemongrass with kaffir lime cone. If bread is your thing, don’t miss the baking workshop where brioches will be the focus, as well as a variety of jams. Finally, and if you really want to impress friends or family at the next dinner party, don’t miss the instructed three-course dinner on 12 November.
All classes are available for private groups if you can round up a minimum of eight people – a great opportunity to share your passion with people you love. Classes take place at Nathalie’s Gourmet Studio, which also celebrates a decade on the scene this year. The famous restaurant doubles as her cooking school and catering headquarters which supplies all manner of events from weddings to intimate dinners.
