VKL One Minute with David Foster
VKL: How do you deal with all the egos under one roof?
DF: Most artists tour in a bubble and they don’t have fellow peers to hang out with. This time, I’ll be the one on stage all night while the others can hang out backstage and talk about the things they love. It’s not a problem – probably the biggest ego out there is me!
VKL: Who was your inspiration?
DF: If I had to pick just one, I would say the Beatles. The amount of music they made, their progression and reach over just eight years still inspires me – if you put those records on today, they sound just as good as they did when I was a child.
VKL: Can you share your secret for success?
DF: A friend said to me that when things get tough, don’t keep hammering against the brick wall – retreat and attack in another direction. Basically, if it’s not working, find a way around it and another way to do it.
VKL: What did you like best about KL during your previous visits?
DF: I love the fact that you can go 30 minutes from here and walk on the ground of people that walked here one, two thousand years ago. We don’t have that culture in America and it’s breathtaking for me to visit a temple and see from where we all came.
