The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) announced in an official launching ceremony that the third edition of the Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW) is set to take place from 2-5 November at Menara MATRADE.
Focused on boosting the Malaysian fashion and lifestyle industry, the event is an initiative to provide a marketing platform to present local fashion-related brands to international buyers, as well as elevating Malaysia’s status as a major fashion hub in the ASEAN region and beyond. This year, the event aims to have 300 exhibition booths, making it the largest fashion event in the country.
The launch marks the opening of registration for local companies supplying fashion, accessories, footwear, cosmetics, textile and other lifestyle related products to participate in the annual event. In 2015, over 200 buyers from countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, China, South Korea, Japan India and Vietnam.
With the theme of MODESTYLE (muslimwear) and inclusivity, this year’s MFW places a strong emphasis on local design elements taken from the different races that are part of Malaysia’s multi-cultural society. The MODESTYLE component of the theme will bring together a large collection of Muslimah fashion by designers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Middle East and others.
“Malaysia’s fashion industry has lot to offer the world and as a growing fashion trade hub, the event will connect buyers, exhibitors and designers from around the region and the rest of the world to source for, and showcase, their latest trends,” MFW Chairman Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud said during the launch ceremony.
