To enthusiasts worth their salt, the affection for a car runs far deeper than mere appreciation of its transport duties. It’s a fondness that makes them look at their ride as being way more than the sum of metal, rubber, glass, fabric, plastic and other inanimate materials. It has a shining soul, a glowing personality.
It’s this devotion that often leads owners on a pampering spree of mods and little touches. Bespoke body styling, powertrain tweaks, suspension setups, flashy wheels, custom interiors – the list is endless, and no price tag is too expensive.
To get a better understanding of this fascinating pastime, one needs to have a chat with this brand of motorhead, or better yet, with a car club’s worth of like-minded individuals; and there’s no greater place to do so than the Malaysia Car Club Carnival!
Plenty Of Appeal
This annual event attracts thousands of car aficionados who come not just to gush at the cars on display, but to indulge in the fringe happenings too.
Running for two days, this year’s carnival includes a lucky draw boasting prizes worth up to RM10,000, auto shows, lighting and audio competitions (look out for the appearance of Thai participants!), product presentations, accessory showcases, and meet-and-greets.
Irresistible automotive deals, more than a dozen food trucks, and even a dedicated kids zone are only a few of the other attractions to be found on the grounds. With 51,840 square feet of area at USJ 25’s One City to play with, there’s no shortage of space for the vibrant activities planned.
Cars And More Cars!
Needless to say, glinting in the sun will be rows upon rows of automobiles courtesy of over 60 different car clubs, from stock-standard units and lovingly modded pride and joy examples to rare models and sleek supercars.
This isn’t all the eye candy to behold, as stealing some of the attention are gorgeous showgirls who will be strutting their stuff all over the place.
To push the revs up, the organisers are also attempting the largest gathering of modified cars in Malaysia, with more than 2,000 cars expected to help this cause!
Representatives of numerous car brands and automotive experts can be sighted at the Malaysia Car Club Carnival as well, and visitors are set to be awash in deals, information and great advice regarding almost any road vehicle.
Check out the latest offerings from popular manufacturers (Mitsubishi, Toyota and Volkswagen are three names that have confirmed their attendance), and take the ones that catch your eye on a spin. Brave souls can attempt the Mitsubishi Red Peak challenge, which entails crawling, forwards or backwards, up a 1:1 gradient ramp in the brand’s pick-up or SUV!
Organised by Stark Events and supported by Kakimotor, the carnival takes place on 11 and 12 August and admission is free, so don’t miss it!
