The live events industry is about to receive a much-needed boost as Live Support kicks-off. The collaborative effort will be one of the first live event series’ under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) and is set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre this month.
The performances will feature the nation’s very finest talent across stand-up comedy, music and various art sectors – including none other than the Godfather of Malaysian comedy, Dato’ Harith Iskandar, and Persatuan Pemuzik Tempatan Selangor, a musical group that has done much to aid struggling musicians over the months of lockdown.BAC Education Group Managing Director Raja Singham, Managing Director V Day Productions Harith Iskander, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Alan Pryor, PR Worldwide Managing Director Paramanathan Rajagopal and President of Persatuan Pemuzik Tempatan Selangor Francis Danker
A collaborative effort between events promoter PR Worldwide and Iskandar’s V Day Productions, Live Support is a non-profit initiative and just what the doctor ordered to help lift spirits and bring some hefty encouragement to the industry.
“Musicians, talents, creative crew, event-service suppliers, venues, local event crew and support staff can now reset and restart an industry that has been severely impacted by the pandemic,” said PR Worldwide Managing Director Paramanathan Rajagopal at the recent announcement event.
With the staging of live events having recently been approved by the government, albeit under strict SOPs and health protocols, the industry has been slowly picking up with entertainment hubs like the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre and Damansara Performing Arts Centre hosting selected theatre shows in recent weeks.
“The pandemic has taken a toll on the livelihoods of the whole creative community and we are looking forward to being able to get moving again by kickstarting not just the economical comeback but also the creative juices – and show Malaysia that we have some of the best entertainment value in the world”, said Iskandar.Iskandar will headline the comedy night on 19 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
Mark your calendars for 19 September when the first in the series launches with a gut-busting comedy night featuring Iskandar and comedy bigwigs Douglas Lim, Hindra Bose, Mad Sabah and Prakash Daniel. The series continues the following week with a music night and plenty of great tunes to get your head nodding. Watch this space for more info!
