15 March 2018: Malaysia’s first and only obstacle course for children under nine and those with special needs touches down Sunway Velocity Mall was recently the site of an inter pre-school competition that featured for the first time in Malaysia the Little Ninja Warrior, an obstacle challenge course designed for pre-school children and children with special needs. Each obstacle in the course has been designed to aid childhood development in the areas of motor skills, tactile perception, balance co-ordination, fine motor skills and interactive creative play. The project is a collaboration between Animals For Young, Malaysia’s only therapy centre for special needs children using animals-assisted therapy; Weplay, an International multi-award winning toy company from Taiwan; and PPS Marketing. 25 children from The National Autism Society of Malaysia were also invited to take part in the competition, and as a token of appreciation, they were given a Weplay Motor Skill Universal Set by Weplay Founder Elton Chiu. The brightly coloured 96-piece set is designed to help strengthen muscles as well as stimulate balance receptors in the ear and nerve endings on the foot. “We are very glad and thankful to have international award-winning toy company Weplay joining us in doing this. These fun and challenging activities will not only allow children to have a great time, but while they are playing, they are also building up skills essential for life. Through play with animals, they will learn about compassion, love and care, which is the core in creating a more loving and responsible future generation,” said Animals for Young Founder Dr E. Joon Khew. Taking place from 13-19 March at the Sunway Velocity Mall Main Atrium, the Little Ninja Warrior challenge also includes scooter rides (to aid in motor skills and balance coordination), a sand play pit and clay mask colouring to help unleash their creativity.
