16 August 2019: Cadbury Dairy Milk Durian is Mondelez International’s second localised flavour after the limited-edition Cadbury Dairy Milk Kopi-CThere’s nothing that defines Malaysia more than the King of Fruits itself, and in order to commemorate the country’s Independence Day, Mondelez International has launched its second localised flavour that’s made exclusively for Malaysia – the Cadbury Dairy Milk Durian!
The new variant features a collaboration between Cadbury and famous Malaysian cartoonist Datuk Lat whose iconic illustrations are featured on selected Cadbury Dairy Milk products’ sleeves.
“This year, we wanted to create a flavour that not only celebrated the flavours of Malaysia but one that also truly resonated with the nation. We recognise the Malaysian pride when it comes to local delicacies and aim to continue delighting our consumers with flavours that they can be proud of,” said Malaysia Category Manager, Rahul Mathur.
The chocolate bar is a unique combination of milk chocolate, durian flavour and rice crispies wrapped in a golden foil and sealed with Cadbury’s recognizable purple hue.
Selected bars are also wrapped in customised sleeves featuring Datuk Lat’s hand-drawn illustrations that highlight Lat the Kampung Boy (Village Boy) in three different scenarios, two of which includes the Durian fruit.
“I was excited to continue collaborating with Cadbury for this campaign for the second year in a row. I was even more thrilled when I discovered that they were launching a Durian flavour as it’s a taste that I grew up loving as a Malaysian. This new flavour takes me back to the days when I used to visit Durian orchards with my family and spend time with them just savouring the delicious taste of the King of Fruits,” said Datuk Lat.
Available from now till 30 September 2019, the 165g bar is priced at RM8.50 while limited-edition gift boxes featuring Datuk Lat’s illustrations are sold on Shopee (an online shopping website) for RM42.90.
