The obscenely talented John Legend will be stopping by Kuala Lumpur this September for the latest leg of his world tour after performing in Singapore for the Formula One. He last appeared on our shores in 2008 and since then he has launched two albums, won three Grammy Awards, wrote a sitcom, got married and lent his considerable influence to President Obama’s election campaign – not bad for a mere six years.
On the lighter side of things, he became an internet star when he produced a video for a comedy channel on YouTube. Despite his success and his stage moniker, John Legend the man remains humble and down-to-earth, a feat which a lot of his peers get lost with. He comes from a working-class background and has followed the American dream to get to the top; it just so happens he is a fantastic writer, composer and singer and is now one of the most sought after collaborators in the business.
This time around, you can expect something a little different as he is getting intimate with Malaysian fans at Plenary Hall in the KL Convention Centre. Usually reserved for classical performances, the venue has excellent acoustics and is the perfect place to listen to Legend’s brand of Soul and R&B. He will be going through hits from the Grammynominated “Love In the Future” and the most popular tracks from his previous three albums.
“I’ve enjoyed this tour immensely, the opportunity to get up close and personal with my fans and tell my story, has been so much fun for me,” said an enthused Legend.
