“The Blue Ribbon Artistry is a photo exhibition featuring LCB Alumni in their professional element, highlighting their passion, creativity and talent to the eye. You will witness the process where raw materials transform into gastronomic masterpieces, where emotions are captured on the spur of a moment, or when thought and concentration is taken to a still,” said President and CEO of Le Gordon Bleu International Andre Cointreau.
Beginning with its first edition, the photo exhibition supported by Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia includes images of the six outstanding LCB Alumni which were captured by Kid Chan, each conveying the passion and emotion of each individual who are now renowned professionals in their culinary journeys.
“In this Instagram impression-focused era, everyone just sees the final product and do not see the process. It is hard to get into a chef’s world as they are often very busy individuals, so we want to bring people into their world,” said Chan.
Blue Ribbon Artistry is also the start of a yearlong funding campaign named Culinary Hearts, a CSR project organised by the LCB Alumni to sponsor a less fortunate student with a culinary programme at Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia. Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia will top up any short fall of fees as a scholarship award to complete a nine-month programme for the selected candidate.
“We hope to launch the project (Culinary Hearts) in three months’ time from now. Candidates will be required to submit a short video of themselves cooking a dish and the shortlisted individuals will attend a workshop with Le Cordon Bleu’s chefs to assess their organizational skills.
“The criteria of being eligible for the scholarship is not just through the workshop but also the family background of each candidate, based on how they are supported financially,” said General Manager of Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia Ming Ho.
She adds that the Blue Artistry exhibition is planned to be brought on tour to other parts of Malaysia and potentially further in Singapore and Jakarta by the third quarter of the year.
The Blue Ribbon Artistry photo exhibition is now open to members of the public at Le Cordon Bleu’s Restaurant Espace Andre Cointreau at Sunway College in Bandar Sunway. Those interested to contribute to the Culinary Hearts fund can donate a minimum of RM50 when they pick up a catalogue of the photo exhibition.
