This July Malaysia welcomes leading chefs from around the world who will congregate at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre for one of the gastronomic events of the year – the 38th Worldchefs Congress & Expo 2018. The four-day affair will not only play host to industry leaders in the food and beverage world, but also present a showcase of the latest culinary innovations and solutions that have emerged.
Organised by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies, a global network dating back to 1928, the biennial congress is the hallmark event of the Association and has been hosted in 20 cities across the world since its inception.
Chefs’ Congress
Some 4,000 chefs across all levels and specialties from 105 countries are expected to attend the congress, which will see a plethora of forums and discussions on trending topics in the epicurean world taking place. Keynote speakers including TV Personality Peter Kuruvita, Global Master Chef Jochern Kern and Founder of Singapore’s acclaimed Restaurant Andre are set to divulge their wisdom and thoughts on various subjects.
Over at the World Educator’s Forum, participants will have the chance to network with peers, while the Worldchefs Sustainability Curriculum teaches how to think and act sustainably to affect positive change in the planet. A variety of educational and recreational activities, roundtable discussions and hands-on sessions make the forum a vital component of the congress as a whole.
What would an event of this calibre be without an element of competitiveness, and here this will take the form of the Global Chefs Challenge 2018. A total of 10 teams, consisting of Chef and commis, will go head to head in an epic cook-off to secure the title of Worldchefs Global Champion. The Global Young Chefs and Pastry Chefs Challenges will be held concurrently as well.
