If you’re a fan of unique clothing and stand out designs then the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) should be high on your list to reach. Fashion enthusiasts nationwide are stirring with excitement as KL’s highly acclaimed and most anticipated annual event on all things vogue is back for its seventh edition at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Keeping expectations high in the city’s flourishing fashion scene, KLFW will present audiences with exclusive ready-to-wear collections by over 80 Malaysian fashion labels, showcased across avant-garde runway shows at the five-day event.
Highlights of the week include established Malaysian designers who have been marking up the local vogue with their exclusive creations. Catch well-known figures like Hatta Dolmat, Syaiful Baharim and Silas Liew as they present their signature womenswear collections while Megwak – a collaboration of Meg and WakDoyok – will be showcasing their menswear.
Also appearing throughout the event is KLFW’s Top 10 Powerhouse Malaysian Designers with prominent names like Alia Bastamam and Fiziwoo who have garnered support from local celebrities and talents nationwide as well as Jovian Mandagie who expresses himself through patterns and light toned fabric. Meanwhile, Innai Red makes its debut at the event, a label well known for its ravishing gowns.
Rising Front Runners
To keep things fresh, KLFW 2019 will highlight 12 emerging home-grown labels set to introduce new styles to the ever-expanding industry. Fashionistas can feast their eyes on collections by the esteemed Pestle Mortar Clothing and TnTCo who create unique and inspired streetwear for Generation Z.
Sharing the limelight is local fashion label Behati which has championed simple and contemporary Raya outfits; Sierra Chong which brings forth distinctive and limited pieces that include plaid patterns, and Duchess & Co which is known for its light and soft effect dresses and one-piece suits.
