As part of their annual world tour, Harvard’s prestigious a cappella group – the Harvard Krokodiloes – will once again be stopping in Kuala Lumpur for a concert hosted by the Sunway Education Group on June 28. You won’t be seeing much of them though as this concert will be performed with no light!
The group comprises 12 of Harvard’s finest vocalists, who travel the world performing songs primarily from the Great American Songbook. You’ll hear them croon out everything from Sam Cooke’s ‘Twistin’ The Night Away’ to Frank Sinatra’s ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’ and a whole host of 1950s medleys.
The tuxedo-clad Krokodiloes have serenaded princes and presidents around the world as well as recording more than 30 albums throughout their nearly seven-decade history. Their highly polished performances come with a dose of humour and a dash of snappy choreography, making them an instant hit to any audience.
The Kroks will be performing for one night only and will be raising funds for Dialogue in the Dark Malaysia, a social enterprise whose mission it is to facilitate the social inclusion of marginalised communities on a global scale.
To date, Dialogue in the Dark has reached more than 30 countries in 130 cities, with thousands of blind and visually impaired individuals having gained employment through its programmes, exhibitions and experiential learning workshops.
To commemorate the collaboration, this year’s concert will be held entirely in the dark, so all you’ll need is your acute sense of hearing to listen to this talented ensemble do what they do best. The crew will also be chatting about life at Harvard earlier in the day during a free talk session so if you’re thinking of choosing this ivy league school to further your education, don’t miss the opportunity.
