Five years – almost to the date – since the last edition, the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) roars back into the capital to fuel the zeal of automotive enthusiasts in the land. Its theme this time is ‘Beyond Mobility’, referencing the interplay of advanced technology and the way we commute.
As with any motor show worth its oil, expect at its core numerous international manufacturers showing off their latest and greatest, most of them welcoming your detailed scrutiny with literal open doors. Exploring the labyrinthine KLIMS’18 is a great way to familiarise yourself with what’s on the market. It’s teeming with vehicles of multiple types and purposes, from the everyday to the elusive, and new model launches are even to be perceived.
Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), this show is more than just a comprehensive collection of nifty production vehicles. Concept cars, for instance, have always been a traditional part of motor shows, so prepare to gawk at the futuristic designs and features these machines offer.
There is a range of other crowd-pullers as well, as MAA President Datuk Aishah Ahmad explains. “Visitors to KLIMS’18 will experience an overhauled KLIMS. There are new attractions such as vehicles developed and imagined by students from our country’s universities, displays of exotic vehicles, the longest limousine in Malaysia and fancy customised art on bikes and vehicles.”
Your own slice of customisation is also enabled by the fact that KLIMS is an Aladdin’s cave of fancy aftermarket accessories, parts and services – sharper headlamps, sportier springs, interior facelifts, paint treatments, staged tune-ups; a seemingly endless variety of automotive upgrades lie in wait.
Get Drawn In
Adding to the KLIMS allure is the Visitors’ Lucky Draw, whose grand prizes are some desirable cars. Three fortunate entrance ticket holders will each be handed the keys to a fresh-off-the-production-line Toyota C-HR, Honda City, and Perodua Myvi respectively.
An entrance ticket purchased online via AirAsia Red Tix also grants an entry into fortnightly draws, in which AirAsia return flights to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Bali, Taipei, Jakarta and Shanghai are prizes. The grand draw prize is an AirAsia return flight to Tokyo! Visit the KLIMS website below for updates.
