28 November 2019: The premium retail-lifestyle destination unveils a refreshed look to end the year
Following months of refurbishment, Isetan The Japan Store recently revealed its new look to eager onlookers. The updated look builds on the already striking aesthetic and injects not only more unique design elements into the premises but also a slew of new offerings.
While the specially curated brands, products and services remain, the concept store now boasts an even greater selection and wider range of categories that cater to a broader section of the public. From high-end retail to dining that covers almost all aspects of Japanese cuisine, The Japan Store cements its position as a one-of-a-kind concept store that offers an authentic Japanese experience.
Spread out over six levels, shoppers will now find more exclusive brands to The Japan Store – including Japanese denim label FDMTL on The Design floor. The brand has engaged in a unique collaboration with Malaysian fashion designer Joe Chia for a must-have collection. Other special brands you’ll find here include Mastermind World, Porter and Comme Des Garcons and Billionaire Boys Club
Head up a floor to The Fashion, where you’ll be spoilt for choice browsing through a wide selection of women’s and men’s wear, including the likes of Bebebutterfly, Davin Jones, Cath Kidston, Anta, and RYZ to name a few.
If you’re looking to boost your beauty and health game, make your way to The Wellness floor where exclusive fitness, spa and salon brands are based, and if you’re in the market for some interior design, The Lifestyle floor is your destination. There are living and travel brands aplenty here, from premium bedding by The Linens Company and cutting-edge Dyson machines, to luggage from Wings, Antler and Boarding Gate.
Last but not least, The Japan Store is a foodie’s paradise with the top and bottom floors being fully dedicated to gastronomy. At the top you’ll find The Table which houses a premium range of restaurants such as The Tokyo Restaurant, Sushi Azabu, Yakiniku Toraji, Mizutaki Toriden, Yakitori and Robata Touan. Each of these top-notch eateries offers a different taste of washoku (Japanese cuisine), from speciality sushi to hearty yakiniku for the beef-lovers.
More dining beckons on the lower ground floor where The Market serves up a salivating spread of outlets that won’t leave wallets as light. These include Dashi Saya (deli style), Hirashima (sushi), Huckleberry (café), Dining Tabushi (ramen) and plenty more. If you’re wanting to try your own hand at cooking Japanese, the comprehensive range of products to buy here will sort you out.
Since making its debut in the iconic Lot 10 Shopping Centre in 1990, Isetan has remained a pillar of the Malaysian retail scene, having expanded all throughout the Klang Valley with four locations in total. In 2016 Malaysia became the second country in the world to hold an Isetan The Japan Store, which was created through a collaboration between Cool Japan Fund and Isetan Mitsukoshi with the express aim to bring visitors a ‘real Japan’ experience.
