It’s been scientifically proven that chocolate causes the release of endorphins, the ‘happy’ hormone, and that a certain amino acid in the cacao-based food is connected to the production of serotonin – the neurotransmitter that regulates moods and acts as a natural anti-depressant.
We’re lucky then that our capital is packed with this wonderful product, where you can get your dose of delicious happiness in all its delectable forms. We’ve picked out some of the best for you and compiled them here.

If you have a weak spot for chocolate truffles, this cosy outlet should be high on your list. Pure, high-quality Belgian and locally-sourced single origin chocolate go into each morsel, made with zero preservatives, chemicals or additives. This results in a long, melt-in-your-mouth finish that coats your palate and leaves you yearning for more. There’s an enticing spread of local flavours on offer as well, including Ipoh White Coffee, Salted Gula Melaka and Teh Tarik. They make a mean brownie as well!

Nayuta Chocolatasia
This eye-catching boutique sources all its cocoa beans from Asia, reducing its carbon footprint and supporting regional farms in doing so. The aim at Nayuta is to produce Asian-inflected chocolate that caters to the Asian palate – caramel-infused, milky and soft textured, as opposed to European tastes which lean towards bitterness and complexity. Each bar or box is exquisitely packaged, and some of the more unique bon bon flavours include sakura, yuzu and Sarawak pepper.
