A prominent fixture on the capital’s art scene, G13 Gallery brings another interesting exhibition this month in FURiends: Portrayals of Cats & Dogs.
Featuring a number of local artists of various histories and leanings, this is a showcase of the participating talents’ adopted pets. The two more common household pets in this country are cats and dogs, and this trend relates to what you can see on the eye-catching canvases in this exhibition.
“Throughout history, the art world has been seen as having a number of artists who have adopted different animals as their pets. Perhaps these animals have not just been seen as pets but presumably as the artists’ buddies that their presence contributes to not only significant comfort and affection but also ideas to the artists,” details the gallery.
On the artist line-up is Cinta Ayuandrea, Gan Tee Sheng, Haslin Ismail, Hisyamudin Abdullah, Haziq Syawal, Fawwaz Sukri, Fadilah Karim, Faiz Mahdon, Fauzul Yusri, Khairul Arshad, Kow Leong Kiang, Marvin Chan, Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj, Nik M Shazmie, Nik Mohd Shahfiz, Sabihis Pandi, Shafiq Nordin, Sofia Haron, Syukur Rani, Syed Fakaruddin, Wong Ming Hao and Yuki Tham, each putting their skills to good use depicting their pesonalised view of their furry friend.
