Seeing that they flaunt nicknames like Kings Of K-pop, The Biggest Boyband In The World, and Nation’s Pick, one could say with a straight face that the Seoul-based Exo has a significant share of fans in the crowded K-pop market.
Doting admirers of theirs are not just found in South Korea too, as there are legions of Exo devotees across the world. A visit to the band’s social media pages reveal that the Exo-L are an eager population of millions who track the group’s every move, hoping for new material every day and on the lookout for tour dates. For Exo’s Malaysian followers, the date to circle is 7 July!
Out of this world
With their four consecutive platinum albums in tow, Exo are once again gracing Malaysian soil, making an appearance at the Axiata Arena on the first Saturday afternoon of the month. Their visit is part of Exo’s fourth world tour, Exo Planet #4 – The EℓyXiOn, which is a massive undertaking that has rocked multiple countries so far.
This bona fide mega concert was first held in Seoul, stretching over three nights in November last year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the band’s star power, it drew a staggering crowd of over 60,000. The tour subsequently travelled to Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and The Philippines, with sold-out performances at every stop.
EℓyXiOn, it turns out, was inspired by the word ‘Elysium’ and signifies a happy enclave where only chosen ones are allowed entry. The concert therefore witnesses Exo members searching for this nirvana, utilising mesmerising audiovisual effects.
As Malaysia comes into view on the band’s horizon, the dashing oppas of Exo are set to melt thousands of hearts with their visages and vocals. Time to brush up on your Korean for this amazing K-pop adventure!
