The sun slowly dipped towards the ocean as a group of guests gathered to sip champagne cocktails and soak up the serene atmosphere of this island paradise.“Welcome to Langkawi,” beamed YBhg Dato’ Steve Day, Festival Organising Chairman and host for the night. “I think we are all in the holiday spirit!”
The guests included Mr Kevin Cheok, Deputy High Commisioner of Singapore, YM Tunku Johanez bin Tunku Annuar and Mrs Lillian Too. The season-inspired Festival menu began with Spring – Scallops on Asparagus, logically followed by Summer – a Citrus-flavoured Rosette of Sole, Baby Lobster and Saffron Linguini that won the affection of Mr Uwe Ahrens; “The shellfish was delicious!” she enthused.
Autumn was the true star, with Chef Chandran Narayanan admitting that the venison was extra special: “I just love it!” The seasons were completed with Winter, and a warming chocolate brownie – rich and delicious pudding served with a wintery Johnny Walker at sub-zero temperature.
As the dinner was cleared, Dato’ Steve Day welcomed out Chef Chandran and the team to receive well-deserved applause from the group of happy guests. “This evening has really captured the spirit of Langkawi,” Mrs Lillian Too beamed, “I will definitely be back.”
