As one of the world’s most exotic dining locations, Dinner in the Sky Malaysia offers diners an airborne culinary experience like no other. Situated next to the iconic landmark of KL Tower, in plain sight of the magnificent Petronas Twin Towers, the one-of-a-kind concept offers the more adventurous an experience of a lifetime – the chance to enjoy an extravagant 5-course meal prepared 150 feet off the ground.
Organised by 2Spicy Entertainment and endorsed by Malaysia Major Events – for the first time in Southeast Asia – 22 guests, together with four chefs and a waiting staff, will be hoisted high in the air by a large crane, and treated to a luxurious meal prepared by the talented chefs of the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
A memorable experience
Participants need not be too anxious though, as safety precautions are strictly observed and everyone is securely strapped into their seats, with safety briefings conducted before take-off and landing.
Adding to the unique sensation of being suspended mid-air, the journey is also nothing if not gastronomical – tempting guests with immaculately plated dishes that combine unique flavour combinations, teasing taste buds, and adding to the overall thrill. One of the most intriguing parts of the experience is watching the chefs prepare course after course for 22 people eagerly watching.
Unique dining concept
The appetiser of smoked duck breast with hoisin vinaigrette and passionfruit drops is served first as diners take off; a clever – and delicious – way to distract the more jittery guests from the gradual ascent.
The next dish is just the right way to whet the appetite. The sharp citrus flavour of the home-made yuzu caviar mixes flawlessly with the salty-sea taste of the fresh Irish Kelly Galway oyster, leaving you pining for more. It all rinses down nicely with a bowl of roasted roma tomato soup.
Chef in action
At this point, the ‘floating restaurant’ will just about reach its maximum height, allowing participants to pause and take in the breath-taking view of the city skyline, as night falls on the city – a picture-perfect sight that was meant to be captured on camera.
Another highlight is that guests have the ability to turn 180° in their seat, so the more daring can swivel away from the table for a better gaze at the scenery.
Despite being over 100 feet in the air, the next course on the menu dives deep into the ocean and delivers a wonderfully moist miso black cod, served with grilled asparagus and a poached Daikon. This is followed by a main course of juicy confit country hen with tomato and pea puree.
The night ends on a sweet note, with a beautifully presented chocolate hazelnut cake, served with fresh berries and garnished with an edible glitter gel – the perfect finale to top off a dazzling night in the sky.
“Dinner in the Sky Malaysia is a one of a kind experience and KL-ites ought to take this opportunity to treat their loved ones, friends or corporate members for an unforgettable experience,” said Dato’ Brian Corvers, Managing Director of 2Spicy Entertainment.
