The Colours of 1Malaysia is back on 19 May to dazzle locals and tourist with its colourful sights and sounds. This annual event never fails to amaze, with spectacular performances and shows that depict the unique culture and heritage of Malaysia. Launched in 1999, it has become one of the biggest celebrations in Malaysia, drawing people from near and far to the iconic Dataran Merdeka.
The streets will be filled with an array of stalls selling local food, arts and handicraft as well as holiday packages introducing the wonders of Malaysia. The highlight of the evening will be the parade, which showcases the different races and ethnicities clad in their traditional outfits performing the cultural dances of their ancestors.
Last year’s event saw colourful floats and costumed people accompanied by marching bands, which was truly a sight to behold. The sound of drumming by the Gendang 1Malaysia group brought the place to life and fireworks lit up the beautiful sky over KL. The night ended with a street dance to Malaysia, Truly Asia, the official song of Tourism Malaysia that got everyone in the crowd dancing as well.
Be sure not to miss out on this cultural extravaganza that will definitely make your evening worthwhile. Come and immerse yourself in an experience that is guaranteed to be memorable.
