If you’ve never seen comedian Allan Perera as Elvis Tan – one of the many wacky characters the much-loved funny man plays – then you’re in for a treat as he’ll be reprising him and many more in his upcoming show, Giggle.
Back by popular demand, Perera will be performing with more giggles for charity, in a show sponsored by Brickfields Asia College (BAC) at PJ Live Arts in Jaya One from 6-11 October. Laughter can brighten days, diffuse tension, reduce stress and act as some of the best medicine money doesn’t have to buy! Now, it can even help the less fortunate.
“It is a unique platform for charities to raise money, while at the same time, giving the performance-going public top rated shows!” says Perera.
Each performance will run for a total of 100 minutes, with the first half featuring the musical ‘A Vinyl Invasion’, followed by the satirical ‘Malaysia’s Got Scandal’ where Perera will be playing his hilarious Malaysian-inspired characters including, Y.B. Wan Bedek Wan Temberang, Saudara Kam Mun Ting and Guitar Joe.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Edunation, which is a not-for-profit platform supported by BAC. The initiative focuses on developing a freely accessible education system for all. To date, Edunation has produced more than 2,500 learning videos, hundreds of practice sessions and has co-organised syllabus-focused seminars for students in Forms 1 to 5.
Following in the footsteps of the recent ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Perera has also created the socially-driven endeavour – the Giggle Challenge. The aim of this initiative is to gather as many ‘giggles’ from social media users as possible, and with each ‘giggle’ video posted, five cents will be donated towards Edunation. Just hashtag your video with #gigglecharity #edunation and challenge five friends.
