The enthusiasm for Christmas is ramping up as we ease into December, and although COVID-19 has been a wet blanket of sorts when it comes to festivities, the Yuletide cheer is not quelled.
Malaysian malls undergo thematic makeovers every so often to celebrate the melting pot of festivals that take place over the year, and Christmas is no different. This year, malls are still dressing up for the winter holiday, with goodies lined up for added joy! Take these two Klang Valley shopping icons for example.
Sunway Putra Mall
In the spirit of giving, Sunway Putra Mall has set into motion its Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative called ‘Tree of Wishes’, which grants the public an opportunity to fulfil the holiday wishes of underprivileged children from Angles Children Home and The Comforter’s Hope.
Taking place until 18 December, visitors to the mal can take part in this commendable effort by selecting any of the wishes from the tree at the mall’s Ground Floor, before purchasing gifts or doling out their contributions accordingly at the Concierge Counter. The presents collected, along with other gifts from participating retailers, will be delivered to the children in time for Christmas.
“We know times have been difficult for some but we hope everyone takes the opportunity to find blessing and to bless others in the current situation and celebrate Christmas with their loved ones in the new normal,” detailed Danny Lee, General Manager of Sunway Putra Mall.
The mall is also presenting a Yuletide promotion called ‘Blessed Christmas’, which fosters appreciation for what we have and to look forward to new beginnings come the new year.
From 7 December until 3 January 2021, the mall has pooled holiday shopping necessities at the Christmas Market on the Ground Floor, with toys from Toy World and home and living items from Niki Cains. There are also promotions across the mall, with fashion, beauty, health and electronic products and offerings included.
Shoppers can also redeem exclusive Christmas Tidings gifts until 3 January 2021, with shopping cash vouchers valued at RM50 up for grabs with a minimum spend of RM100 (RM80 for Sunway PALS members) in two receipts mall-wide.
Available for redemption as well is a sleek 5oz double wall glass Reindeer Mug with a minimum spend of RM200 (RM150 for Sunway PALS members) in two receipts.

The Gardens Mall
The Gardens Mall’s ode to Christmas is all about a European touch and feel. There’s a market street covered with fairy lights, and featuring a vintage vehicle ensemble that is a Volkswagen Beetle, a Mini pickup truck, a Morris Minor 1000 and a Vespa.
In the mall’s North Palm, quaint little shops with frosted windows offer freshly baked goods, toys and more. Wreaths abound and of course, the Christmas tree is well represented. The Christmas market in the South Palm is full of gift options, showcasing brands such as United Nude and Bowers & Wilkins.
You can also help feed the hungry with the Christmas Community Pantry grocery donation programme here, with each set of essential groceries costing around RM127 and benefitting B40 recipients under PERTIWI Soup Kitchen.
