22 January 2019: An exclusive Italian cuisine showcase by the Canadian culinary star
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Berjaya University College welcomed celebrity chef David Rocco for an exclusive sit-down dinner featuring Italian dishes from his Dolce Vita travel series.
“David is here tonight to kick start our 10th Anniversary Celebrations. We have planned a series of events the whole year to highlight the traditions, culture and values ensconced in our being.
“It is also the time to reflect and acknowledge members of the community and our industry partners who have helped shaped who we are today,” said Executive Director and CEO of Berjaya Higher Education Sdn Bhd Mae Ho.
The evening started with a cooking demo in the kitchen, where Chef Rocco introduced the Berjaya University College students his Italian culinary style passed down from generations. What he prepared was a beet risotto cooked with beet root juice reduction, garnished with Parmigiano cheese and finished with olive oil.

Before the beet risotto was served, Rocco presented an entertaining showcase based off his experience during the Dolce Africa series, which involved drinking cow’s blood that likened the appearance of his risotto dish.
In his closing remarks, Rocco congratulated the students of Berjaya University College for a smooth completion of the dinner service.
“I get the glamour and get to mingle with the guests this evening but the students took it upon themselves to execute the dinner and they did a fantastic job and I’m really proud of them.
“It is not easy to do a risotto for 50 people and its one of the biggest challenges encountered. The young and talented students are the future of the culinary arts industry here in Malaysia.”
