In the wake of COVID-19, the Asian Electronic Esports Federation (AESF) has introduced the Your Home, Your Arena (YHYA) campaign with the intention of bringing the Esports community together via tournaments held in social media and online arenas. Banking on the growing strength of the Esports community, the campaign also has the added noble purpose of collecting aid for those affected by the pandemic through gaming activities, crowdfunding and fundraisers!
The Esports scene is a fast-growing one over recent years, sprouting competitions that have an entertainment value comparable to many other traditional sports. Its platforms include computer, console and mobile, with professional gamers and even national teams establishing their names in many a tournament.
Effectively, there are two main aspects to the YHYA campaign; namely the Your Home, Your Arena Charity Cup tournament, and the Your Home, Your Arena Charity Fundraising effort.
YHYA Charity Cup
This invitational tournament, which kicks off on 4 June 2020 and ends on 11 June 2020, involves two popular game titles – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and The King of Fighters.
Participating teams hail from multiple Asian nations, including Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand. Divided into Quarter- and Semi-final rounds before the Finals, the following is the Quarter-finals draw for the participating countries.
All the matches will be streamed live on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook, so don’t miss them! If you’re a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang player, you can even win some in-game content by entering a simple contest. Details here!
YHYA Charity Fundraising
For its fundraising campaign, YHYA is collaborating with GIVE.asia, one of Asia’s prominent fundraising platforms channelling donations for the needy. Donations received will be used to assist vulnerable communities that have been left in the lurch by the effects of COVID-19.
AESF hopes to reach out to all who can lend a helping hand for this cause, whether they are in the Esports community or not. To contribute or donate, head over to give.asia/yourhomeyourarena.
