Rainforest Camping Perhentian Island
Perhentian Island
One of the jewels of the East Coast, Perhentian Island is an idyllic getaway with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Split into Besar (“Big”) and Kecil (“Small”), this campsite is located on the latter on Rainforest Beach a.k.a. Sandy Coral Beach. As far as islands go, Perhentian sits right at the top with its staggering beauty.
The site is on the quieter side of the island so you’re away from the hostels (and often times party-goers), and among a lush forest. There are hammocks available so you can sleep right under the stars if you want, but if you prefer something over your head, the elevated tents are well kept with mattress and pillows. Toilets and showers are also included.

Naturally, the snorkelling and diving here are next to none so make sure you really explore the waters which are packed with marine life. Just a short walk away are Coral Bay and Long Beach where you can grab some food and drinks, and hangout with other campers if you wish.

Payung Getaway
Cherating
If you’re a fan of stunning sunsets – and let’s face it, who isn’t – then you’ll love this location which sits on one of Cherating’s beautiful beaches. Here you can pitch up a tent either on the sand or little ways across on the grass beside a flowing river. Either way, your view will be more than memorable.
Windsurfing is big here, and so is wave surfing but that depends on what time of year you come. Bring your boards just in case the swells pick up! There’s a communal kitchen and indoor showers as well, plus plenty of nearby restaurants where you can grab a bit if you don’t feel like throwing something on the grill.

The mangrove forest close by offers some great kayaking and fishing, so bring the rod as well! All in all, Payung Getaway strikes a perfect balance between quiet sanctuary and exciting retreat!
