28 April 2017:The Budimas Charitable Foundation hosted its second ‘Night of a Thousand Blessings’ recently, a fundraiser dinner in aid of the underprivileged and orphaned children of Malaysia. Held at the Mayang Sari Ballroom of the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, the event saw over 400 guests from different backgrounds that purchased tables for the night priced from RM 8,000 to RM 15,000.
Also present were Royal family members of the state of Negeri Sembilan, Y.M. Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, Chairman of The Budimas Charitable Foundation, who officiated the night with a powerful speech on the importance of children’s welfare in our country.
Private donors and sponsors of the event contributed significantly to the on-going efforts via the three-pronged programme of the foundation: the Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF), Budimas Food Charity Fund (BFCF) and the Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF).
Highlights of the night saw eight items being auctioned off, ranging from hotel stays sponsored by the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur and The Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, handbags as well as an exclusive 18k rose and white gold, and set with diamonds and colour gemstones ring.
The night successfully raised RM501,587 with the proceeds going to the expansion of the three programmes of the foundation where under BFCF, Budimas hopes to provide an added 25% of children breakfasts; build nine new libraries in Orang Asli settlements of Kelantan Pahang and Selangor by 2017 under BECF; and increase the amount of homes that it supports by 50% under BHCF.
Providing entertainment on the evening was performer Samantha Tan from the St. Nicholas Home, Penang which is one of the homes that is financially supported by The Budimas Charitable Foundation. Jazz performer Vanessa also serenaded guests throughout the night, while comedian Kavin Jay tickled funny bones with a hilarious stand up routine.
