29 June 2018: 200 children from four charitable homes rejoice with a festive get together
Hari Raya cheer swept over the Budimas Charitable Foundation recently as it celebrated the end of the of Ramadhan with 200 orphans and less fortunate children and their caretakers from four charitable homes.
These were Pertubuhan Anak Yatim dan Kebajikan Darul Izzah, Asrama Damai Rumah Anak-anak Yatim Kuang, Baitun Nurrawdah and Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Budimas Orion.
Following the recitation of doa by Hakim Muhammad, one of the children from Budimas Orion, Budimas Trustee Datin Seri Maneesah bid everyone a warm welcome and invited them to fill their plates from the sumptuous spread which included festive favourites such as rendang, lemang and satay.
The children from Budimas Orion then treated guests to a special performance, after which each home participated in a Kuda Kepang design competition. A spirit of teamwork pervaded the venue as children worked together to produce the ‘horses’ used for the traditional Johor-based dance within the 30-minute time span.
Adding to the joyous occasion, the children were given gifts of duit raya from the Budimas Board of Trustees, including Tunku Dato’ Seri Iskandar Tunku Abdullah and Datuk Ali Kadir, and goodie bags filled with treats from sponsors.
“We want to share with them the blessing and let them know that they are not neglected, especially during this festive season. Our team believes in the spirit of sharing and caring particularly at this period when these underprivileged children need more love and attention. Likewise, we hope more individuals as well as corporate bodies can come forward to help the less fortunate,” said Budimas Principal Officer Anne Rajasaikaran.
The Budimas Charitable Foundation currently supports 32 charitable homes across eight states in Malaysia; Selangor, Kedah, Pulah Pinang, Perak, Johor, Kuantan, Sabah and Sarawak under the Budimas Home Charity Fund. It also builds and operates libraries for the children of Orang Asli communities via the Budimas Education Charity Fund and provides breakfasts to less fortunate children in 107 schools across Malaysia.
