You can’t really reminisce about famous 90s boy bands without dwelling on Boyzone’s indelible presence on the scene. This Irish pop group was all the rage back then, their unassailable popularity thanks not ony to their seductive music, but to their stockpiles of charisma and good looks too.
The pulling power of Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham was immeasurable. With five members, fans had their choice of who to gush over, and Boyzone merchandise were selling as fast as they could make them. Posters flew off store shelves and straight onto bedroom walls to be gazed upon fondly.
From 1993 to their initial split at the turn of the millennium, four Boyzone albums were unleashed. Among the fruits of these releases were hits Father And Son, A Different Beat, Isn’t It a Wonder, Baby Can I Hold You Tonight, All That I Need, Picture of You, and When You Say Nothing at All.
During the hiatus that followed, the individual members pursued solo careers in entertainment, ranging from acting to singing, before organising a comeback tour in 2008. Tragically, Stephen Gately passed away of natural causes a year later, and the remaining members released a tribute album, Brother, in 2010 to commemorate him. BZ20 was introduced in 2013 for their 20th anniversary.
