17 May 2017: Konnichiwa! Shoppers to Avenue K will be travelling to the Land Of The Rising Sun as the Japan Festival returns after a successful run in 2015. The Ground Floor Atrium will be awash with all manner of exclusive brands from Japan, ranging from beauty, fashion food and beverage to lifestyle products and services. Transformed into a bustling Japanese street, complete with wooden carts displaying authentic Japanese products and cherry blossoms, the Ground Floor Atrium also features a full-sized traditional Japanese tea house decorated with lanterns on a wooden structure. Shoppers are set to be mesmerised by a series of exciting Japanese-themed activities including Japanese drum and dance performances, as well as costume demonstrations where they will be invited to wear Yakutas. On the food front there will be live sushi and bento making, a tea ceremonies and various creative workshops for families.

A highlight will be the Japanese Tea Making Ceremony Competition where shoppers can taste the premium tea, and experience and learn the art of Japanese tea making at the Maiko Tea booth. Those who spend RM250 and above in a maximum of two combined receipts at any stores on the same day will stand a chance to participate in the competition and win a pair of tickets worth RM3,488 to Osaka, Japan. Other activities include the Sushi Challenge and the Japanese Bouncy Balls Scooping, a popular traditional game among boys. The aim here is to scoop up as main bouncy balls floating in water as you can, until the net tears off. A raft of vouchers, gifts and further treats await those who spend during the festival at any stories in Avenue K from 12-21 May. Speaking at the recent launch ceremony of the Festival, Deputy General Manager of Avenue K Phang Sze Sze said: “Japan has always been known as a country with a rich culture and tradition.
