23 May 2017:Aquaria KLCC seeks to educate students on precious marine life.
To help encourage new collaborations with schools around Malaysia, Aquaria KLCC recently held a teacher’s day workshop, specially created for teachers and educators across the country.
Aiming to introduce educational programmes which schools can take part in, participants were able to experience these for themselves and explore how they could integrate them into their own teaching activities.
The workshop was held on 23 May and saw teachers from preschools to universities, along with undergraduate and graduate students in related fields from public and private institutions, take part in a Sharks Conservation Talk, Discovery Hunt, Moon Lab Workshop, Seahorse Workshop, Jellyfish Workshop and Ecolab Workshop, guided by Aquaria KLCC’s educational team. Each one was meant to enhance and supplement current teaching methods.
The teachers were shown the many educational programs available at Aquaria KLCC

The Sharks Conservation Talk introduced teachers to the importance of sharks in the eco-system, highlighting the threats facing them, while the Discovery Hunt was a fun challenge where hidden clues are used to find various aquatic life around the aquarium. Meanwhile, the Moon Lab Workshop and Seahorse Workshop involved several hands-on activities, where participants got the chance to learn about the lifecycles of various protected marine species, including Brown banded bamboo sharks. Meanwhile, at the Jellyfish Workshop, teachers were taught about the life cycle of the jellyfish and how to transport them safely.
Finally, the day wrapped up with the Ecolab Workshop where teachers explored the self-contained vivarium filled with reptiles, amphibians and insects, which acts as an illustrative aid to how an ecosystem works.
