Alamanda Shopping Centre, arguably the first mall to be opened at the nation’s administration centre Putrajaya, is celebrating Malaysia’s patriotic month with a campaign spanning three weeks. Called the Merdeka campaign, it will end on Malaysia Day (16 September) but not before offering some excitement to shoppers.
CEO of Suria KLCC Andrew Brien said, “For this year’s Merdeka celebration, Alamanda has decided to provide a blend of distinctly Malaysian elements that come together to lend the right vibe, while ensuring the safety of shoppers as we embrace the theme of ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ which emphasises the spirit of patriotism, unity and love for the country.”
First up was the VIKids art contest, sporting a theme based on the upcoming 63rd anniversary of Merdeka. Winners of this contest will be chosen with the help of shoppers at Alamanda, who can vote for the 20 finalists from the two age groups: Category 1 (7-9 years old) and Category 2 (10-12 years old).
Alamanda will track and post updates on the votes by 10am daily between 24 August to 13 September 2020, displaying the results on a screen near where the artworks are showcased. These updates will also appear on Alamanda’s Facebook page and website. The votes will be finalised by 15 September 2020, and the young winners can look forward to some nifty prizes, including trophies, certificates and MPH vouchers.
In an effort to foster the spirit of Merdeka and unity, Alamanda has come up with the Tribute Fund and is raising RM10,000 to procure teatime snacks for staff and medical front-liners at a government hospital in Putrajaya! Each time a shopper redeems a limited-edition Merdeka T-shirt and places their vote in the VIKids art contest, Alamanda will donate RM10 to the fund.
On top of that, every shopper who has voted may also sign the A2-sized thank you greeting card to be delivered to the hospital with the teatime snacks.
To get the aforementioned T-shirt, a shopper needs to spend at least RM500 in not more than three receipts at any Alamanda specialty store between 24 August and 16 September 2020. Redemption must be made on the day of purchase, while stocks last. As an added bonus, the mall is also allocating 1,000 packs of Nasi Lemak to be given away on Merdeka Day (31 August) and Malaysia Day (16 September) to shoppers wearing any of Alamanda’s limited-edition Merdeka T-shirts.
