Sunway University professors took love to new heights this Valentine’s Day by using a drone to deliver a card.
Personally giving flowers, chocolates, and heart-shaped cards are all common on Valentine’s Day but have you ever received a card delivered via drone? Well, Dr Elizabeth Lee, CEO of the Sunway Education Group became the trailblazer in Malaysia to send some using this unique method.
A DJI drone modified by the university’s Research Centre for Human-Machine Collaboration (HUMAC) could be seen flying around campus before touching down and dropping off its package to a few lucky students.
“It’s a wonderfully fun way to introduce just a glimpse of some of the development work we are currently undertaking in this exciting field of drone technology and the endless multiple avenues for its future use”, said Associate Professor Yap Kian Meng.
For many years now, professors at Sunway University have been researching and developing innovative technological solutions to combat challenges being faced around the world.
The application of this technology in delivering greeting cards illustrates how research and development in the field has progressed, and how it can be used creatively in everyday situations.
Dr Elizabeth added, “The ground-breaking work we are developing within drone technology will revolutionise the way we do things in the future, but for today, we simply chose to spread the love”.
Love truly was in the air this Valentine’s Day!
