Get ready for what will undoubtedly be one of 2016’s most memorable performances as the curtain goes up on Shrek the Musical. Based on the Oscar winning Dreamworks movie, the now-Broadway show is making its way to Kuala Lumpur this month, bringing the hilarious story of everyone’s favourite ogre to the stage, as part of its first ever international tour.
The world-class production will see original Broadway cast members Kyle Timson and Lindsay Estelle Dunn reprise their roles as Shrek and Princess Fiona respectively.
With 140 costume changes and 60 scene changes, audiences will enjoy a rollicking good time as all the colourful characters from Shrek’s world are brought to life while he sets out to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona. Everyone from the wise-cracking Donkey and pint-sized Lord Farquaad to the lovelorn dragon and a whole cast of hysterical fairytale stars will have you rolling in the aisles as the story unfolds.
“Shrek the Musical marks the first few Broadway-produced musicals in Malaysia and it is our aim to continue to provide locals with delightful and international quality productions” said Datuk Jared Lim, Chairman of Tremendous Entertainment Group.
For actress Lindsay Estelle Dunn, getting to play Princess Fiona was a dream come true, as she had adored the original Broadway show with Tony Award winning performer Sutton Foster.
“When I first saw Shrek the Musical, I fell in love with the role of Princess Fiona and I decided I had to play her one day,” she said at the preview showing in KL.
Meanwhile for Kyle Timson, the man behind the lovable green ogre, the best part of playing Shrek is seeing the smiles on the children’s faces, and brightening up their day by seeing their favourite role come to life.
Premiering at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur, the show promises to be a truly immersive experience and a ton of fun for the whole family. The show is in town for four days only so snap up your tickets before they’re all sold out.
